2026/2027 Course Dates

Most courses through National Aviation Academy are structured to start with any required theory components.

We offer theory courses covering PPL, CPL and IREX syllabus at our dedicated training facility. All study materials/course notes and accessories are available from National Aviation Academy.

Theory courses are only available to students who are also undertaking flight training through NAA.

Please note, students may join NAA at any time - if the theory dates do not suite your schedule please contact us so we can create a personalised study schedule.

2026 intakes:

  • 28th September 2026 (Townsville)

2027 intakes:

  • 11th January 2027 (Cairns and Townsville)
  • 12th April 2027 (Townsville)
  • 5th July 2027 (Cairns and Townsville)
  • 27th September 2027 (Townsville)

The CPL theory course runs for 13 weeks, 0730 - 1430 Monday to Friday. Subject dates below include exam days. Classes are run as normal on most public holidays. Please note that exams may be scheduled on a weekend.

AVI50222 - Diploma of Aviation (Commercial Pilot Licence - Aeroplane) is delivered on behalf of TAFE Queensland (RTO 0275).

The AVI50519 - Diploma of Aviation (Instrument Rating) is delivered on behalf of TAFE Queensland. National Aviation Academy provides training and assessment of this accredited qualification for TAFE Queensland RTO 0275 who will award this qualification/statement of attainment.

Diploma of Aviation & MEIR courses are run concurrently with the same start dates. Training is available from our main base in Townsville, or from our Cairns base for FNQ-based students.

We run an intensive 3 week full time (Mon-Fri) theory course covering the 7 subjects that make up the PPL theory exam.

CPL Subject Dates

The last day of each subject is the scheduled exam day.

Please note that as of 2026, Air Law is now taught after Meteorology, and Operations & Performance will have an additional week of revision for students who require it.
